I may give James Jones credit for hiring Monty, signing Cam Payne and Jae Crowder, also putting the Finals team together, but not a lot more.

Monty hire, I suppose makes sense. He was a future scapegoat by JJ but a good hire that I'll give JJ credit for.

Monty had a relationship with Cam Payne and suggested him to the team, like he also did with Shamet a little while later. So JJ doesn't deserve credit for that solely.

Crowder is a weird one. The ending here soured me on him and then more came out and I realized he wasnt to blame. He did well here but ultimately was a poor fit next to Ayton at PF. Any credit JJ deserves for bringing in Crowder is cancelled out by how his last year here played out. It's the GM's job to make the coach and player sitA down and solve their issues and we all saw that didn't happen. JJ let Crowder sit for months and his value dissipate also.

Being cheap isn't something to applaud generally but if you're cheap then the chances of ending up in a massive hole from overspending is unlikely to happen.

At least the future is not jeopardized for years and years into the future.

It's been pretty clear to me for a long time that Jones (as he has openly admitted) hates the draft, wants nothing to do with the draft, and ergo is very likely the responsible party for engineering our void of draft picks for the next six years. I would further submit that unless he's replaced as GM and soon, we will likely see many more of our future drafts disappear in trades for bloated contracts and over the hill talent.

It's also been long clear to me that he believes that an NBA roster should be predominantly composed of mid-sized shooting wings with interior size and practical ballhandling a secondary consideration. As we have seen the last few years, even with (relatively speaking) "premium" talent on that kind of a roster, it's a dreadfully unbalanced approach and guaranteed to fail over the long haul. But good luck on getting him to admit it.

It's pretty clear that the Suns are going to have start over with another approach soon. I just hope to heck James Jones will not be a part of the personnel decisions by that point because it will likely guarantee another set of disastrous choices.

I recognize we had success with Crowder and Ayton but I also believe it was a good fit with CP3, Booker, and Mikal all together. It took all 5 working together to make it work. Once Paul started regressing and Ayton quit trying it all fell apart. Crowder and Ayton were the back tires, Booker and Mikal the front, and CP3 was the engine in a front wheel drive car.

Nothing is going to change. Ishbia made his mark the day he took over (literally the day) and it’s been dumb blockbuster and dumb blockbuster. Yes Jones should be fired he brings nothing to franchise. Josh Bartlestein will be the next puppet.

You had me until you said FWD.. Its too bad they weren’t performing like a Civic Type R at least.

I agree CP3 was holding it all together. Father time got to him more and I think he wore down other players.
