EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Bradley women's basketball team won its first Missouri Valley Conference tournament game in four seasons on Thursday and is moving on to the quarterfinals.
The No. 9 seed Braves (14-18) defeated No. 8 seed Valparaiso, 64-58, at the Ford Center for its first MVC Tournament win since taking the title in 2021. BU had lost eight in a row to Valpo.
Kaylen Nelson’s 16 points led four players in double figures for BU, which advances to face top-seeded Murray State in the quarterfinals at noon Friday.

Nelson hit four 3-pointers in the second half to help the Braves build a 16-point lead. BU's Amy O’Hara added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Soleil Barnes and Washington grad Claire McDougall each scored 11 for the Braves.
Bradley finished with assists on 16 of its 24 baskets, getting its offense going after missing 14 of 18 shots to fall behind 16-10 after the first quarter.
