He was like a 3rd round pick who had played 1 year at that position. He was picked on raw athletism and maybe what could be it was a swing for the fences pick.

How many 3rd rounders are even in the NFL say 4 years down the line im guessing not many.

Meh.

Its a Keim formula: top notch size, speed and athleticism --but perceived upside from being at a small school, limited experience, etc.

When it works, great

But when it doesn't, it seems its a total bust

Why don't you do some research and check it out. The cards are going to get almost nothing from a 3rd round pick.

Which made it a tremendously stupid pick in the first place. He wasn't even good that 1 year at the position. Easily my least favorite pick of the Keim era so far.

They took some input from the secondary coach as well who had previous experience with PP and HB. Not every draft pick works out.

Really ?

I can think of a 3rd round pick that panned out reasonably well

Just looking up that draft, granted only rookies but only 4 players out of that whole draft made the PB last year, Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott, Jordan Howard & Tyreke Hill (1 first rounder, 1 fourth rounder & 2 fifth rounders). But that 3rd round pick is where we could have took Prescott (we could have took him in 4th round also but opted for Boehm instead).

I did not know Texas A&M from the SEC was a small school... even an Aggie knows that is wrong lol

With Bethel injured, future UPS driver Zamort assumes the #2 CB role over Williams.

Yikes.

[per Urban]
Here's the story to back that up: Bethel Sits out practice Friday with brace on left knee

Not sure how Bethel was hurt. Bruce Arians didn’t mention anything at the lunch presser. Bethel did have a play Thursday when he and tight end Jermaine Gresham collided and seemed to bump knees/legs, but Bethel finished practice after getting up slowly.

Brandon Williams? Oh ya he sucks.

Firsts things first you have to know how to play football then hone in...

And everyone I know named Brandon sucks same as Josh's. It's the time frame of our lives...give me a Larry or a Mike..etc.

Looks like Williams is going to be this year's whipping boy. I don't get worked up over anything in pre-season. Even my own personal whipping boy could look good in pre-season and he stunk when it counted:

It's his 2nd year in the NFL playing one of the hardest positions that typically takes rookies several years to develop. Yet he is a bust because he isn't starting? Sometimes I think people complain just to complain.

You're right; it's not troubling at all that he got jumped in the line by a guy who wasn't even good enough to make the practice squad last year. :doi:

So where is the explanation as to why they gave Zamont some snaps at CB#2?

Maybe that explanation will temper your "troubling".

In the Williams case, its lack of experience that Keim is trading on

Its similar to DJ Humphries--all the tools you want in a top tier LT, but only one real year in the SEC

Keim loves bargains on guys where you can say "if he played at a big school", or, "if he had stayed in school one more year" he would have drafted way higher

Keim bet that had Brandon Williams played more years at CB in college, he would have been drafted much higher

Looks like a bust to me.

If he cannot beat out Ronald Zamort, then there is a big time issue with Brandon Williams.

We're going to find out this year if he has improved much.

Explanations are generally coach speak, imo. The truth about the matter becomes more clear after seeing who makes the cut and who sees the field on game day. Williams made the cut and saw the field, we all saw how that turned out.

I'm not overly sanguine about Williams chances of being solid this year. I hope I'm wrong. I'm sure someone will say I am...

Zamort had a good camp last year but Trevon Hartfield was kept over him because of his size. Moving him ahead of Williams doesn't mean he's a bust. It's only been 1 week of camp & we are already determining who is a bust or not?

My brother is a garbage man. Nothing wrong with it--he makes great money--but I don't want him trying to cover AJ Green, either.

I know, I got your point. I was just making light of it. Neither of us are wanting to see the Brandon Williams of last year covering AJ Green.

LOL? Head in sand. Brandin a Williams was garbage last year, it at least he was holding off camp bodies. It's possible he's even worse now, somehow.
