Micah must be dedicated to pitching, but hasn't it been obvious to him that his potential in the Major Leagues as a 1B or outfielder has been greater than as a pitcher?
I'm sure he has discussed it with the teams he's been on.
Gibson said he's bringing him up for today's start because of his pitching and hitting. But before he was traded, was it Melvin or Hinch (I don't remember) who said he would get some playing time at 1B, but it never happened.
We really don't need him at 1B now that the D'backs have finally broken up the logjam by releasing Branyan, who was a bust as a pinch hitter -- not one successful pinch hit all season.
Perhaps if Owings pitches well today, Gibson is planning him as our power hitting pinch hitter off the bench between starts. I just don't see those starts keeping him with us for long.
