The vast majority of players trying to make this transition share the same problem; route running. Against NFL defenses route errors often turn into interceptions. Another project that seems to fit this staff’s orientation.

IF we sign him we should probably release an offensive lineman instead of another receiver. If we dumped JJ Nelson I feel like we’ve lost our speed/PI threat lol

Why not go for Dez, though? Dude's not going anywhere at the moment.
Because he's a Douchebag and he suxx? If dez still had it they would still be using it in Dallas....

They let Butler walk because he and De had similar skillsets.....then after getting a look at Dez......they cut him....tells you all you need to know about dez

I agree his route running has left a lot to be desired the last few years. Also he is from OSU so he is probably dumb as a rock. ;)

With that said he is an elite athlete and had a solid preseason where he showed promise. I haven't seen him play this preseason but supposedly he is improving in all areas including his routes.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Catching passes in stride on a sun-splashed morning, everything is clicking for Braxton Miller.

His route-running is textbook. His pass-catching fundamentals are on point. And Miller no longer looks out of place or uncomfortable lined up outside the hash marks as a wide receiver.

The converted quarterback and former Ohio State star needed the past few years to absorb the nuances of a complex position

The word is that he wants 7 million to play.
That’s what I heard as well. Unless he is willing to take an incentive based deal instead of a guaranteed one he may well be in for an even longer wait. I don’t think any team is going to offer him a multi year deal until he can prove he’s no longer a prima dona but he won’t change.

I was hoping we'd bring in Kendall Wright for a workout (even though he's been more of a slot WR). He worked out for the Patriots on Wednesday, but I haven't heard of them offering him a contract.

Miller could be okay.... his progression from qb to wr,...then on to the nfl...seems to actually show some progression....his rookie season he ended up on IR

he is young and athletic so he is worth a look just for the building for the future aspect of it...also..being a former qb maybe he opens up some trick play options

Supposedly both Cleveland and Baltimore offered him 5 million plus already and he turned them down.

The fact he did not take those deals, and is still on the street risking total irrelevance and effectively ending his own career should tell you everything you need to know about this guy.

Why would we sign Kendall Wright? We already have Christian Kirk blocked by Larry Fitzgerald. Wright can't play outside of the slot. Neither can Kirk. Larry is most dangerous from the slot.

He has solid career #s as a #3 receiver & he has good hands (only 3 drops last year).

I don't know if he's only been a slot receiver in the NFL... that's where he was projected to play in Minnesota behind Diggs & Thielen. He was an outside receiver in college.

EDIT: Kendall Wright breakdown from last year:
- When lining up in the slot (70.9 percent of Wright’s total snaps), he caught 41 of 51 passes in his direction for 393 yards (20th most in the NFL).
- When lining up outside, Wright was targeted 31 times and caught 18 passes for 221 yards.

He made $800K last year so he could also be a fairly cheap option that puts up solid production... he averages 643 yds/season over his 6 years on 57 catches/year. After Fitz, we don't have anyone else on the roster with that proven level of production.

Compare that to Braxton Miller's career stats:

http://www.nfl.com/player/braxtonmiller/2555348/careerstats

17 catches/year for 130.5 yards/year over 2 years. That's not impressive at all.

EDIT: Ronin shared Darren Urban's twitter post saying that we've also brought Corey Coleman in for a workout today. Coleman was just cut after 1 month with the Bills (after they traded a 7th rd pick for him) for having a bad attitude from day 1.

His stats are better than Braxton Miller though:

No WR signed on street will help this team this season. It is better to bring back Brice Butler or Gregg Little after game 1 only for this season.

Also trading with Falcons for Sanu (may be like a 3rd rounder?) will help this year and until 2020.

That's what I've said. Braxton Miller is nothing more than bottom-of-the-roster fodder. We needed real WR help back at the beginning of FA, and we ignored this glaring need. Drafting Kirk helps, but not enough, IMO.
