Geoff Blum and the San Diego Padres have never been better than they were in May.
Blum hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the sixth inning and the Padres rallied to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-4 Tuesday night, their 22nd victory in May.
San Diego was 22-6 in May, setting the club record for victories in a month. It's been a dramatic turnaround since April 27, when an embarrassing 10-3 loss at San Francisco dropped the Padres to 9-13 and led manager Bruce Bochy to rip into his players.
``We think this is more indicative of who we are than the other team we saw earlier,'' Bochy said after the first-place Padres improved to 33-19. ``It's a good ballclub. We're playing well everywhere, all facets of the game. We'd like to think we're this good to keep this kind of play and wins going. We know that's going to be tough, but we're certainly going to try.''
