What's the plan for the Houston Texans when on the clock at No. 25? Will Houston target another top-level prospect from a national champion-winning school?
Pro Football Network has the two-time defending AFC South franchise addressing several offensive woes in their new seven-round mock, including a potential heir for Laremy Tunsil and a No. 2 receiver on the outside to pair with Pro Bowl option Nico Collins.
While the Texans could consider standing pat, they have to land the right tackle on the blindside to secure stability around C.J Stroud. With the Pittsburgh Steelers looking to move down, general manager Nick Caserio offers pick No. 58 and a 2026 third-round pick to move up four spots and select Texas All-American offensive tackle and Outland Trophy winner Kelvin Banks Jr.
Consistency has been key to Banks' rise in mock draft over the final several weeks. The former All-Big 12 and All-SEC tackle was a staple in helping the Longhorns reach back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances and conference title bouts. He's an exceptional run block but thrived as the SEC's top pass protector for Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning.
Much like Tunsil, who started at guard when drafted out of Ole Miss by Miami in 2016, adding Banks would give Houston a guard for one season to stabilize the trenches. After that, Banks can shift to the outside as the future potential Pro Bowl left tackle that continues to keep Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud upright under his new mega contract.
Without a second-round pick, PFN moves to Round 3 and gives Houston some receiving help. At No. 79, the Texans shore up the tight end room by adding Oregon's Terrance Ferguson.
Ten picks later, Houston moves down to pick No. 100 by making a move with the San Francisco 49ers. General manager Nick Caserio continues to wheel and deal -- as is tradition-- and picks up a fourth-round pick. At No. 100, another Duck heads to Houston, this time in the form defensive tackle Jamaree Caldwell.
PFN puts a bow on the Texans' class with the following picks:
Bond is the interesting pick who could end up being the biggest steal of the draft. A projected Day 2 selection, the former Alabama and Texas star has been the center of a lawsuit against a woman who made false statements to the Frisco (Texas) Police Department.
Bond turned himself in last week on an outstanding sexual assault warrant. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond. Damien Butler, Bond's agent, has reached out to all 32 NFL teams with the first page of the lawsuit attached, writing that Bond "is completely innocent of the allegations levied against him and will fight to clear his name."
After being released from jail, Bond went on social media and said the accusation against him was "patently false."
Last season at Texas, Bond caught 34 passes for 534 yards and five TDs.
Entering the draft, the Texans have seven picks to better the roster.

"Houston could use an experienced, traits-rich blocker who projects well at both tackle and guard, and that’s what Banks brings to the table," PFN wrote. "Leverage maintenance can be an issue at times with his build, but he’s explosive and rangy in space, and a mauler in both phases."

- Fourth round (No. 113): DJ Giddens, RB, Kansas State
- Fifth round (No. 166): Cobee Bryant, CB, Kansas
- Seventh round (No. 236): Hollin Pierce, OT, Rutgers
- Seventh round (No. 241): Isaiah Bond, WR, Texas
