Four of the SouthCoast’s nine baseball teams qualified for the MIAA playoffs last spring.
Apponequet had the deepest run, reaching the Div. 3 Final Four while Bishop Stang lost in the Div. 3 Elite 8. Dartmouth came up short in the Div. 2 Sweet 16 while Fairhaven’s season ended in the Div. 3 Round of 32.
Four of the area’s top 12 players from a year ago are back.
Here’s a look at SouthCoast’s nine baseball teams heading into the 2025 season:
Head coach: Jim Cabucio (9th year)
Last year’s record: 19-6
Names to know: Lucas Tremblay, Sr., IF; Gabe Zuber, Sr., OF/P; Cam Sylvia, Sr., 2B/P; Ethyn Travis, Sr., C/3B; Ryan Levesque, Jr., IF/OF/P; Sean Lundrigan, Jr., C; Devin Antonya, Jr., IF/OF; Lucas Beauregard, Jr., 1B/P; Brayden Bogdan, Jr., 1B; Gary Carrier III, Jr., OF/P; TJ Norton, Jr. 3B/P; Nick Romeo, Jr., IF; Garrett Butler, So., OF/P; Peter Kanakis, So., IF/P.
Outlook: Even though the Lakers graduated some key players, including Standard-Times Player of the Year Nathan Levesque, from last year’s Div. 3 Final Four squad, they should be in contention for another South Coast Conference Blue Division championship and make another deep tournament run behind the leadership of Tremblay, Zuber, Sylvia, Travis, Lundrigan and Levesque. “The Lakers are expecting the SCC to be strong in both divisions and with a very competitive non conference schedule, each game will be challenging,” said head coach Jim Cabucio.
