That really sucks. Hopefully it is nothing major because I think Oden will be one of the greatest players ever if he stays healthy.

Don't know this is setting up perfectly for a repeat of Sam Bowie-Michael Jordan.

So far Oden has been a huge bust at summer league and shown to be very injury prone (wrist, back, tonsils and now his knee) while Durant hasn't exactly had the greatest summerleague he seemed to impress a lot at Team USA workouts already.

Saw this on another board

"The MRI couldn't find anything, which is why they will do the exploratory surgery tomorrow."

Isn't this always the case pretty much? Wasn't it the same with Amare, Penny etc? And then knee scoop and boom... out for the year..

So that's, what, fifteen straight months of excuse-making? And counting?

Where's this great player I keep hearing about?

well... it seems nothing major..

but if he does require surgery and doesnt think he should play on it for the majority of the season...

umm.... whats the odds of getting Derrick Rose or Oj Mayo to join, them in 2008-2009..... damn.

Oden pretty much dominated college basketball this year because he was a man amongst boys but I wonder how he'll do against Duncan, Shaq, Amare, Howard and Yao.

He had problems with Hibbert, I don't think he can match those top bigs yet.

Oden is not going to be this great player people want him to be. He looked awful in the tourney and only showed up for the title game. Yeah, his hand, I know. But he just had little intensity.

Give me Durant every day and twice on Sundays.

You know, it is very possible that Durant will be a better pro than Oden. To compare these two to Bowie/Jordan is stupid.

uh, Eric, with one hand, as a freshman, the guy lead his team to a 31-1 regular season record and the championship game, after their previous year of not doing anything of note. That's pretty impressive in the college ranks.

You've admitted you don't pay any attention to college, right? So, how exactly can you dog the guy, considering his impact on his college, leading OSU to it's first NCAA Title game in 50 years, 31-1 record, not to mention the guy was a rebounding machine, 15 ppg scorer and 3.5 blocks a game, playing one handed most of the season. That's pretty great from a freshman if you ask me.

Oden wasn't going to make a big difference this year anyway, but I agree that this is a major setback for the Blazers.

Edit: Just read the Yahoo blurb -- it's microfracture. You can pretty much guarantee it.
