On realgm this morning.

If Finley goes to Miami, I would not be opposed to taking him in. He could adequately fill in as backup point guard and also add a weapon from outside. The trade exception would work on him but it might to better used on a younger player like Jones. Barry does have the ability to fill two voids, long range shooting and ball handling.

Both George and I were campaigning for him last summer.

Spurs are obviously trying to make room for Finley but I am also guessing they would like to get DerMarr instead of keeping Barry.

Bringing him in would be worth it so that we dont have to suffer at his hands as we did twice last year.

You seriously come up w/ some hairbrained ideas sometimes.

Why on God's green earth would you even entertain the idea that San Antonio would trade with us??

Why do we want to help Spurs out by giving them a useful trade exception for another midseason Muhammed-type acquisition while taking on Barry's horrible contract at the same time?

Once we have our defense improved, Barry and Horry won't post as much problem anyway. We'd be better off just going into the season with what we have plus maybe Finley and a 7-footer backup and keep the flexibility with the TE till we get a good chance to use it.

Remind me who that's going to be?

Ugh, he's the reason why we lost game 1. No thanks on that one.

Yeah, I wouldn't want Duncan either, because he hurt the Suns in several games.

You need not ever worry about Duncan, he's retiring a Spurs

Thanks for clearing that up. Otherwise the ironic content of my post might have been lost.

I was very surprised a how ineffective BB was last season with the Spurs. I expected him to have a big year with all the open looks he had, but it seemed like he lost a lot more from his last injury than I had expected.

In any case, I would very very suspicious of his health if the Spurs dealt him.

George, your remarks are right on about Brent Barry. IMO, he is barely a shadow of the player he used to be (and I've always been a Brent Barry fan). I used to want to see him in a Suns uniform... but not anymore. He is just not close to being the Brent Barry I used to know.

I am definitely not interested in Barry after last season, and his contract now looks pretty huge. Grabbing him would essentially be taking Q's contract back, although Barry's might even be a bit higher. He seemed to be just the piece that San Antonio was looking for, but in reality didn't do much for them. His contract will probably be pretty difficult to move, but somehow SA seems to come out on the top end of deals pretty often.

You... and the several others he has buried in his basement.

Heh! Thanks to both of you. It's nice to be noticed.
