Brewers apparently have a stud 2B waiting in the wings but do not have a RF. They want to move Spivey to fill that void...interesting why they took a player they didn't need.

Or would Spivey actually consider learning how to play the OF, which was something he declined to do here?

Correct. He downplayed switching positions here.

He sure did. Spivey's quote was, "Second base is my position."

It was disappointing that he learned about the proposed move in the newspaper and responded through the Press as well.

Because bucketheaded D'backs management decided to dump ALL their tradable commodities at Brewers Wal-Mart for easy one stop shopping.

Did it occur to you that maybe the Brewers refused to take Danny Bautista? Of course not--I'm sure Garigola thought to himself, "Let's give away as many good players and prospects as possible. Let's throw in prospects the Brewers haven't even asked for. Bautista sucks and is overpaid, and it'd be unfair for the Brewers to take him in this deal, so let's give them Spivey instead." I'm sure D'Backs tried to dump Bautista on the Brewers, but they obviously refused to take him.

NOTE: I said "tradable commodities"

Bautista is NOT "tradable"... no team will want him at his salary.... NONE. Spivey and all the others WERE inexpensive enough to be tradable.

My point exactly. Wish we could have moved Spivey ourselves for a veteran 3rd or 4th starter to make room for Hairston this summer, but getting Sexson was worth Junior and the others we gave up IMO.

Joe Jr. handled this transaction like a desperate eBay bidder that just HAD to have that ONE item... so he gave up everything! The price was WAY too high for what is likely to be a one-year rental player.

Well, it'll be interesting to see what just spivey will bring if traded.

I mean if the brewers get someone decent-pretty good for spivey it will show we overpaid. Obviously this is a relative statement, but it could be used somewhat for a measuring stick of how much talent we gave up.

Lets hope we can re-sign sexson after the year, he is an awesome player.

Here is the best/worse part. Javier Vasquez just signed a 3 year extension.

I hated every second of the Javy Vazquez tenure in AZ. He gave up HR's left and right and had a bad attitude. He sucks

I'm still trying to figure out why K. Williams gave up Chris Young for tht bag of garbage (Especially since the Brian Anderson experiment is working out so well).

People here think he will be better now that he is not the subject of trade rumors. I don't agree. He is a .500 pitcher.

And people in AZ thought he would be better for us after he got out of the spotlight in New York. He sucks, plain and simple. His attitude is what really pissed me off. I've never seen a pitcher tank so many games as he did (which is exactly why he gives up so many HR's- he gives up once things start going south).

He is a weird one. Looks like he has great stuff, but bam he goes Elmer Dessens in the fifth. Ugh.
