Callum Sheedy, the Bristol No 10, is set to make his debut for Wales on Friday evening when Wayne Pivac's side take on Ireland in the opening fixture of the Autumn Nations Cup. Searching for a first Test win since February over Italy, Pivac has largely stuck with the same side who lost to Scotland in the Six Nations, with Justin Tipuric's return in the back row the only change to the starting XV, as Alun Wyn Jones wins his 150th Test cap. Sheedy, named on the bench, is coming off an excellent season in the Gallagher Premiership with Bristol, was called up for the first time following the conclusion of the domestic season in which he impressed marshalling Bristol's exciting backline. The 25-year-old No 10 qualifies for Ireland through his parents and represented England in a fixture against the Barbarians in 2019. However, should he make his Test debut as expected in Dublin this week, he will then be tied to Wales, competing currently for the back-up role behind Dan Biggar with Rhys Patchell. Wales otherwise are boosted by the return of Tipuric, who missed the loss to Scotland two weeks ago due to illness, while Shane Lewis-Hughes wins his second cap at blindside flanker after an industrious debut in Llanelli.
