After patching up most of their big needs during NFL free agency, the Denver Broncos will now look to continue improving the roster during the 2025 NFL draft (April 24-26).

With the draft just over two weeks away, we have identified eight positions of need for the Broncos, split into four categories: must-have, important to add, long-term need and depth options. Let's jump right into it.

Must-have position: running back. After letting Javonte Williams walk during free agency, Denver needs to add a starting-caliber running back in the draft. Fortunately, 2025 is a deep RB class.

Important to add: wide receiver. Broncos coach Sean Payton has stopped short of saying wide receiver is a "must-have" position, noting that he's higher on the room than others, but it's still No. 2 on our list. Courtland Sutton is currently scheduled to become a free agent in 2026, and even if he's re-signed, Denver could use more playmakers at WR.

Needed long-term: tight end, defensive line, linebacker. The Broncos would be fine going into the 2025 season with their current players at TE, DL and ILB, but the team needs more depth at all three spots. Evan Engram is a great short-term option, but that shouldn't stop Denver from targeting another TE, perhaps even early in the draft. The Broncos also have a strong DL rotation, but Zach Allen, John Franklin-Myers and Malcolm Roach are all scheduled to hit free agency in 2026. Meanwhile, question marks remain at ILB even after the team signed Dre Greenlaw.

Could use more depth: safety, cornerback, interior offensive line. Similar to the positions listed above, Denver would be in fine shape going into the 2025 campaign with their current starters at S, CB and IOL, but the team would be wise to add more depth and competition at those spots.

The Broncos have seven picks to use in this year's draft, including No. 20 overall in the first round. Denver used its first-round pick last year to select Oregon quarterback Bo Nix.
