The Denver Broncos brought back linebacker Justin Strnad on a one-year contract ahead of the start of the NFL's new league year last Wednesday.

The agreement was originally reported as a fully guaranteed $2.7 million deal. Now that the contract details are out, it looks even better for the Broncos.

Strnad received a $2.62 million salary (fully guaranteed) and a $167,500 signing bonus, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. Simple math would suggest that translates to a $2,787,500 salary cap hit, but it's more nuanced than that.

As cap guru Zach Aulakh noted on Twitter/X, Strnad qualifies for a veteran salary benefit. He received a Four-Year Qualifying Contract, which he qualified for after playing four straight credited seasons with Denver before becoming a free agent.

Aulakh put Strnad's cap hit at $1.37 million. OverTheCap.com currently lists $1,197,500, but Spotrac.com has it listed at $1,337,500 like Aulakh. Either way, Strnad will have a lower cap hit than the $2.87 million he'll receive in 2025.

Yet another team-friendly deal for the Broncos.
