The Denver Broncos were happy to land Notre Dame's Audric Estime in the fifth round of last year's NFL draft, but the running back had an underwhelming rookie season.
Estime (5-11, 227 pounds) received just two carries in Week 1 and then had a four-game stint on injured reserve with an ankle injury. When he returned, he had four-straight games with single-digit carries followed by a 14-carry game in Week 10 and then six more single-digit performances.
He got 12 carries in the team's regular season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs but only managed to rush for 34 yards, averaging just 2.8 yards per tote.
Now preparing for his second season in the NFL, Estime shared a hype video on his Twitter/X page:
"Every time I carry the ball in my hands, I get a feeling, and I’m obsessed with that feeling," Estime said after a game in November. "So, to be able to get that feeling and carry the ball -- it just shows how much Coach [Sean] Payton trusts in me, and I just have to keep going.”
Estime finished his rookie year with 76 carries for 310 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 4.1 yards per rush. He'll look to build on those totals in Year 2.
