Lil'Jordan Humphrey has left the Denver Broncos, but he wasn't shoved out the door.
The Broncos attempted to re-sign the veteran wide receiver, according to multiple reports, but Humphrey opted to join the New York Giants on a one-year deal instead.
Before he left for New York, LJH received an offer from Sean Payton, according to the Denver Post's Luca Evans.
“There’s a lot of love for Sean Payton,” Humphrey's agent, Jimmy Gould, told Evans. “Sean and I go way back, and Humphrey and he go way back, but this was really about the future and the opportunities that are available to him in New York.”
Humphrey's role in Denver's offense declined toward the end of the 2024 season and the Broncos have added Evan Engram and Trent Sherfield to a receiving rotation that already featured Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin.
Humphrey believes he will get an opportunity to have a bigger role with the Giants, and he's probably right. Denver, meanwhile, might not be done adding wide receivers. Up next on the offseason calendar is the NFL draft (April 24-26) and the Broncos hold seven picks.
