Kenny Pickett, the newest quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, has stated he will be given a shot to win the starting job.
On Thursday, newly acquired Pickett made his first public appearance as a member of the Browns. At the podium, he answered some questions regarding his recent experience in Philadelphia, how it feels to be back in the AFC North, and the odds of him starting for Cleveland in 2025.
It’s been reported that the Browns will give Pickett a fair opportunity to start for the team in the upcoming season. In Thursday's press conference, he discussed his goals and possible role with his new team: “Whatever the team may ask of me, you just want to find a way to walk out of there as the winner,” said Pickett. “Continuing to grow as a quarterback and winner is something I’m going to try to do here in Cleveland.”
Kenny Pickett was last a starter for the rivaling Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023. During this time, he posted a 7–5 record with 6 touchdowns and four interceptions on 2,070 passing yards. Cleveland is still expected to bring in at least two more quarterbacks before the start of mandatory training camp in June. With Deshaun Watson likely out for the entire 2025 season, Pickett is currently the only quarterback on the roster.
