Bruce Bowen Opts Out of His Contract

The San Antionio Express reports that Bruce Bowen has declined his contract option with the Spurs and also that the team has declined to pick up Robert Horry's option. This will put the Spurs at $28.5 million (according to HoopsHype which has already reflected the decision).

It is likely the Spurs will simly resign him to a bigger contract after signing Manu and Turk; but this does put them squarely in the Kobe chase.

I think the spurs will try to re-sign Stephen Jackson who left them and went to the Hawks last year. He had a two year contract with the Hawks, but the 2nd year was at his option, which he has opted out of.

He gives them the outside shot that they missed last year.

Manu will be resigned, but there is a chance Turk will not.
