Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy skated on March 15 ahead of the Original Six club's matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning. While this is the case, this does not mean that No. 73 is close to returning to action.

While speaking to reporters, including The Fourth Period's Shawn Hutcheon, Bruins head coach Joe Sacco shared that McAvoy is still considered week-to-week.

McAvoy, 27, has been sidelined since suffering an infection and injury to his AC joint during the 4 Nations Face-Off. Now, with this update from Sacco, it is clear that the Bruins are going to have to wait a decent chunk of time at least before they get McAvoy back.

With the Bruins looking to sneak into the playoffs and McAvoy being their best defenseman, this is undoubtedly rough news for them. The clock is ticking on the Bruins' season, as their matchup against the Lightning will be their 68th game of the season. Thus, following this contest, they will have only 14 more games for the rest of the season.

McAvoy has appeared in 50 games this season with the Bruins, where he has seven goals, 23 points, 81 blocks, and 89 hits.
