Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman was pulled during the Original Six club's March 13 contest against old friend Linus Ullmark and the Ottawa Senators after the first period. This is the third time that Swayman has been pulled this season.
It was a tough night for Swayman, as he allowed four goals on just 15 shots. This was after he stopped 26 out of 28 shots in his appearance against the Florida Panthers in the Bruins' 3-2 win. He also had a 25-save shutout against the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 8, so he was undoubtedly heating up before this rough start against the Senators. However, his hot streak has now come to an end in a disastrous fashion.
While Swayman had a night to forget, the Bruins did not play well in front of him. The Bruins finished the first period with only four shots on goal, so the Senators simply dominated the first in all areas.
Entering this contest against the Senators, Swayman had a 20-21-6 record, a 2.91 goals-against average, and a .899 save percentage. Ullmark, on the other hand, has a 16-11-3 record, a .913 save percentage, and a 2.67 goals-against average in 32 games this campaign with Ottawa.
