Bryan Colangelo on radio soon

It is 5:05 p.m., and Bryan Colangelo is supposed to be joining Gambo and Ash on the radio soon on XTRA 910 AM. I'll try to post a summary of what he says. I think Bryan Colangelo is one of the best interviews in sports.

You are so right about Ash and Gambo

I have never listened to them before, and I wish they weren't talking about this so I could turn off the radio.

They are just idiots. I was on wait to get on the air right before Stephon got on, and I hung up because I realized it was a wsate of my time. THEY KNOW NOTHING. They give so much bogus information its unreal. Why do Athletes/Execs allow these guys to give interviews?!?!?

I hate calling them. I almost did it today, but I figured it was worth my time. They really don't know what they are talking about most of the time, and they only let you talk to them for like 30 seconds. I talked to the guys on the Press Box last week for about five minutes.

They seem to have pretty good knowledge on only two sports: hockey and boxing. When it comes to other sports, their knowledge is incredibly lacking!

Random thoughts from the interview...

The Knicks had been calling about Stephon Marbury since the Phoenix Suns acquired him.

They felt like the trade was too good to be true, so they had to do it to get themselves flexibility.

He said they still have an enviable court of young players. He said he could say that because he still gets a lot of calls on the rest of them as well.

He is comparing it to the Larry Nance deal as far as the flexibility and young talent they will be acquiring.

Bryan Colangelo is saying needs to do more research on Vujanic's contract situation. He said he believes he does have an NBA buyout on a contract with Skipper Bologna.

He said Charlie Ward will never play for the Phoenix Suns. The New York Knicks gave them the cash to buy him out.

He said he talked to Antonio McDyess earlier and let him know that there was absolutely no grudges. He said they will look at McDyess to see what he can contribute.

Lastly, one of the things he mentioned was that they anticipate right now having $5-8 million in cap space next summer, but there are moves that look like a real possibility that would free up even more room. He said he was not at liberty to discuss those moves.

Actually Joe, he did NOT want people to compare it to the Nance trade. He said he didn't want people to start expecting the same sort of returns.

He also said he has been fielding a ton of calls on everyone lately, and that it always happens when a team is floundering.

He thanked Penny and Steph a lot for their work.

He said Dice was actually really excited when he talked to him.

Apparently the physicals and reports will be done by Wed. If that is right, then Marbury won't play in tomorrow's Knicks game



Which means his first game will be on National TV.

When one of the radio guys mentioned that Milos is regarded as the best young point guard in Europe Bryan Colangelo did say that is a matter of debate. I thought it was interesting because BC talked about some other guys that are supposed to be very good. It made me wonder if they are quite interested in some of those guys.

Well as much as I like Marbury, we need New York to lose as many games as possible, no matter what.

Hopefully the Knicks will need some time to adjust to Marbury which I think they will.

No doubt. I think we should all be hoping for New York to lose.

The next time Cleveland and the Knicks play each other it will be quite easy to cheer for Cleveland.

I don't care about that--I just want to KNOW. I'd rather know if he wasn't the best now then wait months before we even speculate.
