With the negotiations and the talk going on with Fitz,Dansby and Pace, I was wondering what you guys (and gals) think will happen with Bryant Johnson. Will he get offered anything or will another team pick-him up etc...
Curious to see what everyone thinks will happen or what you'd like to see happen

From what I heard in the beginning of the year he was going to be a Raven next year. He is really close with Ray Lewis and is from Baltimore. Who really knows though. He didn't show me much this year and had a key drop (looked like pass interference to me) in the Baltimore game. In my eyes he will be better wioth another team. He is much like Fitx and Q, just not as good. Put him next to a burner like Steve Smith or Joey Galloway and he could do something IMO.

He is most defiantly faster than Q, just not a burner and drops the critical ones

he's as good as gone. Cards will make him a nice offer, but he will get the chance to be the #1 on another team.

Just heard a caller on NFL radio asking about him for the Bears.

He's a wanted man.

He plays hard, practices harder.

He'll be missed, but to what degree is not yet determined.

He only required one on one coverage...rarely did the safety roll to his side even when past. They normally let him go.

There is simply no way the Cardinals will be able to offer Johnson the type of money he will be offered elsewhere.

He will be playing for some other team this fall.

And he could barely even put up decent numbers. All things considered, he's not much of a loss.

Will not miss his drops, But I am sure whoever we get to replace him, the next thing we know will be mad he is gone. I hope the Cards land a Speedster!!

Until his replacement catches a key pass BJ was sure to drop.

Yeah, Penn State players suck.

:ducksandruns:

earth, I told you guys, no bagging on Levi Brown. His dad is a Marine. Ergo Levi is off limits to criticism on this board.

In a more serious vein. I remember Stout's mock draft for us a few years back, with three Lions, including Bryant Johnson, going in the first round.

We had a good old time with that one. No other guru, amateur or professional, had more than 1 Lion going in round one. Haha.

Guess who was right? It wasn't Mel Kiper.

I have nothing against BJ. I hope he does well somewhere. It would be totally boneheaded to throw much cash to save him at this point.

He kind of had a tough road. Coming on board with a high pick the same year we landed Boldin had to be embarrassing. But he kept his mouth shut and always seemed to give a good effort. It seemed to me he'd often make a great catch to keep the drive alive but always drop the game winner. Chiefs last year, Balto this year and maybe SF home this year demonstrated it best. BJ makes a great catch to get us to the one yard line but he misses the game winner on the next play. Classic Johnson. Thats his whole career as a Cardinal. All those dropped gamewinners were pretty hard catches, but he needed to make one of them anyway at some point.

During the first year of the rock and roll marathon in 04, they had a band playing at 40th and Campbell and all members had a BJ jersey on. I couldn't decide if they were his buds or if, for some reason maybe the called Cardinals HQ and volunteered to pimp the team, and maybe they sent that band all their Johnson jerseys, which I'm sure they had a lot of. I never did figure it out but it seems likely all those guys in that band didn't pick Bryant Johnson jerseys.

Anyway, barring a miracle, so long Bryant Johnson, good luck, hope it works out for you.

.

They're in a band. They just wanted chicks to think about their Johnsons.

We don't need to spend any money on WR this off-season. We could offer him the minimum but he won't accept that and will get more elsewhere than we should pay for a backup WR who isn't the true speed-burner that we want.

Always wanted BJ to break out here, and become a devastating #3 that you couldn't adequately defend without letting Fitz or Boldin run loose. Too bad it didn't happen, but it's true, he wasn't a distraction and I wish him the best of luck wherever he lands (just not so much that it hurts us).

He has worn the Cardinal jersy for the last time. I'm not crazy about Urban but he can do just about anything Johnson can, including drop a few balls.

Urban isn't close to B.J. yet.
For very drop, he's caught passes that I've seen Q drop.
I'm not comparing or dissin' anyone, but you naysayers, beware.
there are a number of players many have written off in the past. I told you they had more than you thought and at least one has gone to the prio bowl 2X, with others having good years.
B.J. is a keeper, HE MOVES the chains and is a threat downfield. A Q or Fitz. no. However, we are enamored with them. Many of you were calling for the riddance of Pace, just last training camp.
IMO, it would be a big mistake to not try to keep him.
We, as Cardinal fans, always, espescially on this board (even the mods now), have a long memory on the negatives and a miniscule one on the positives.

jstadvl, I love you man...where you been? Everything all right out there?

Anyway, I have to disagree with you on BJ. He constantly playes against the third worst coverage option of an opposing defense, and hasn't managed to break out. Imagine what will happen when a Champ Bailey locks up on him.

Don't think anyone wants him gone. He's a decent if not good #3 reciever. I just don't think we can afford to pay him what some other team will offer. If he'll resign for small signing bonus and modest salaries fine, but my guess he'll sign somewhere for around 4 years, 12 to 15 mil. 3 mil to 4 mil cap hit is just too much for a #3 WR

How is he not close?
Speed?
Hands?
YPC?
TD catches?

Urban was new to the system and dollar for dollar seems to be capable of bringing everything to the team that BJ does.
I'm not hating on BJ. It's just clear that he is a peice of the puzzle that can be replaced.

Same here "BIG Fella". Been ill, not for general conversation though.
Agree with hookem.
Look, I have nothing against Urban. Like him in fact. Everyone knows what BJ is there for, easy to key on. Don't know if he's constantly against a 3 though.Urban has been under the radar, not so anymore.
I know Johnson is replacable. But, right now, there is good chemistry. Why mess with it.
A tweak here or there, but our offense is hot, with them both.
Johnson has shown tremendous upside. Load his contact with incentives and have a 4 receiver set.
Again, I'm not dissin Urban. I just don't want us to return to the development team of the NFL.

Hands. Urban makes BJ look like Fitzgerald. I don't call Urban "Jerheme the Juggler" for nothing.
