JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – It’s a new year and a new offense for the ETSU Buccaneers. Head coach Will Healy and offensive coordinator Cam Aiken are determined to up the tempo in 2025.
A couple of FBS transfers should be able to command the quarterback position at a high level come August, but Healy is also high on the depth of the running back corps.
Last year’s starter, when healthy, was Bryson Irby. The hard-nosed back tallied 763 rush yards and six touchdowns a season ago.

But, some big-play ability guys like Devontae Houston and converted slot receiver, Khamran Laborn, are still in Johnson City. Healy believes, paired with a few of the new, experienced transfers, this group could provide a spark on Saturdays.
“I think that group is talented,” Healy told News Channel 11 last week. “Obviously Devontae is the guy that’s coming back with a ton of experience – and you expect to be a leader in that room.”
“But, I think there’s a lot of guys that have a lot of different ability – Kham Laborn is a guy that continually sticks out,” he continued. “I think Devin (Ingram) has got a ton of ability, (D’Marius) Rucker had some really good plays today. Bringing Jason Albritton in has been massive … I think it’s another deep room that’s very talented and we’re going to continue to push that room to be the best they can be.”
Albritton, the Ole Miss transfer, has played in 18 FBS games in his career and could be a factor early in his tenure with the Blue and Gold.
