According to the Tampa Bay Times, the Bucs are expected to release Kellen Winslow and sign free agent Dallas Clark "probably sooner than later."

Per beat writer Stephen Holder, "odds are good" the Bucs will find no takers for Winslow's contract, and he'll be cut rather than traded. The Bears are tentatively expected to have interest in Winslow, who could play a Tony Scheffler-like role in Mike Tice and Jeremy Bates' offense. Clark would likely be a 12-20 snap-per-game player in Tampa, seeing the field strictly on passing downs.

Not sure of the dollars but Heap is probably costing us as much as Winslow is costing the Bucs this year. Who do you like better?

Agreed but on the other side? You know we will keep 3-4 TEs.
assuming we go for Winslow, who do we cut?
we have
Heap, dunno if he's done after watching him last season, but if not, he's our #1
King, our #1 last year, and likely this year
Housler, young, fast, could be our future TE if developed
Dray, almost the same as Housler

logically, Heap is the best odds to cut in the scenario, but if he has a resurgence elsewhere, I don't wanna hear about how Whiz sucks and always throws away his best players...

Dray hasn't done much of anything in 2 years with Arizona. Or is he a quasi-fullback more than a TE. Of course he does have the Makovica Surprise going for him so the 2-3 passes he catches each year go for big gains.

I always thought Winslow was a headcase, did he grow up?
A little, it seems (from a casual observer's pov).

As much as I've liked heap throughout his career at ASU and in the pros, I'd much rather have Winslow.

...but it might get confusing on ASFN (it's another KW). :)

Seahawks acquired TE Kellen Winslow from the Buccaneers in exchange for a conditional 2013 seventh-round pick.

The pick can upgrade to a sixth-rounder based on Winslow's performance. Tampa Bay did well to get anything for Winslow, who has creaky knees and played last season with a hitch in his gait. He would have been released if Seattle hadn't made a trade offer. Winslow, who turns 29 before the coming season, finished 2011 with 75 catches for 763 yards and two touchdowns. His playmaking ability has been dwindling several years running, and he's now going to a run-first offense to compete for snaps behind Zach Miller.

That's washed up? It's more receptions than all of our Tight Ends had combined from 2008 through 2010. Total for the three years not each year.

It takes 5 years or more for a Cardinal TE to accumulate numbers like Winslow had in one season.

Obviously we don't have any use for a guy like Winslow. He wouldn't get the touches and would be pouting on the sidelines.

The King/Housler combination should work just fine for what the Cards do offensively.

I think the reality is Wiz has little use for pass catching TE's. Looks at his offenses throughout his career and TE was never featured. Thats why a guy like Jeff King as more value to our team then a headcase like Kellen Winslow.

We will see if Housler and Heap can be the pass catchers we think they can.

Dray is nothing like Housler. Maybe if you are saying they are both "young". One is a fast potential receiving threat (though with questionable hands), the other is primarily a blocker who fills the backup FB role.

Hopefully KWjr ditched the motorcycle. KWjr's motorcycle (if he still has one) stunts vs Seattle's wet streets don't make for a good combination.
