Budda Baker signs with Cardinals

The Cardinals opened the day with two unsigned members of their 2017 draft class.
They’ll end it with just first-round pick Haason Reddick in need of a contract. Safety Budda Baker signed his four-year deal with the team on Thursday.

Baker is not taking part in the team’s offseason program right now because NFL rules bar him from practicing until the University of Washington ends the school year on June 9. He did get to travel to Arizona to sign his contract, however.

“It’s definitely been difficult being away from the veteran type of guys,” Baker said, via the team’s website. “I feel like I knew this coming into it, and I’m just trying to stay focused and stay with the task at hand. You can just control what you can control and when I am here, just be ready.”

I get the impression hes sick of all the Tyrann questions. Every single interview I see somebody asks him about Tyrann.

For all we know, they dont get along. Just because 2 guys are the same height and have similar playing styles doesnt mean anything. Stop assuming Baker idolizes Tyrann. Let Baker be his own man.

What else is he suppose to say? Obviously hes going to be respectful.

His actual idol is Earl Thomas, whom he trained with in Washington, who hes also the same height as, and who he actually has a more similar playing style to.

Itd be as if I was the same size as Danny Amendola. We're both white WRs. And I get drafted to the Patriots. Every question is "So, what do you think about Danny?? Do you look up to Danny?? Any thoughts on Danny??"

im going to answer the questions the right way, but really I dont care about Danny. No, im not his fan, Ive never been his fan.

Why on earth would Baker, from washington, whos friends with Seahawk players, follow the AZ cardinals and be a big fan of Tyrann? Hes not.

I think he's probably happy to be drafted and signed. Just a guess but I'd imagine he's flattered to be compared to HB and eager to learn as much as he can.

I think he is a Cardinals now. I think any allegiance he had for the Seahawks was different than the typical fan because he knew he would probably be part of the fraternity which is the NFL one day. I think he is going to become close friends with Mathieu. I could be wrong but I think once he hits the field against the Seahawks, all bets are off. Lastly, if he ever was a fan of the Seahawks, then he surely followed the Cardinals and had respect and admiration for Mathieu's game... but what do I know? I am not Baker and he might be frustrated that the Broncos did not draft him

He flat out said he was a player fan, not a team fan.

He said his two favorites were Earl Thomas and Tyrann Mathieu.
