Mao probably knows this but apparently UA recruiting boards are reporting that Chase Budinger, the #7 rated prospect nationally by Scouts.com, has told Lute Olsen he's going to be a Wildcat. The official announcement will be August 23rd, quite a coup if true because not that long ago it appeared Chase was a lock for UCLA. Apparently he decided he preferred the more uptempo style in Arizona and you can't fault him for that.

They're also saying PG Brandon Jennings, soph to be in HS, is strongly leaning towards UA.

Gotta hand it to Lute, how in the world can he recruit an elite PG prospect like Jennings when he's got Nic Wise committed, and Jerryd Bayless essentially locked up in front of Jennings? I guess Jennings is assuming those kids will be gone by the time he gets there or he is just so impressed with Lute's history with PGs he's willing to sit a year. Can someone please tell Brandon that Lute will be 75 when he enters college :D

If these kids end up in Tucson, Arizona will be a contender through the end of the decade. My apologies to the fans of other Pac-10 schools who have been praying for Lute's exit from the game, your wishes ain't happening quite yet.

Budinger officially committed to the Cats today during a press conference.

He sucks we didn't really want him at UCLA. :D

Congrats, great player. The rumor was he told Howland and Tim Floyd(USC) a couple of weeks ago, that he'd made his mind up, and he wanted to let them know so they could focus on other kids to recruit.

The big surprise to me is that he gave up Volleyball for UA. This is a kid that's on track to be an Olympic level volleyball player and UCLA has the top program in the country. I guess he figures his future is the NBA. really shows you what a great job UA did recruiting him that they got him to forget about volleyball.

Seems like a great kid, was very upfront with UCLA can't hold a grudge against him for that.
