Having just toasted my hard drive I offer these titbits to assist others.

  • Partition your drive, make a small say 80gb partition to put windows in. All your dats on the rest of the drive. If you do this when you reinstall only the small partition gets nuked.
  • Slipstream a new Windows cd [url to follow]. This lets you build a new cd from your orgiginal but with all the services packs, hot fixes and drivers installed. And you can pre anwer install questions, including the product key.
The process described below owrks real well and is pretty darn simple
