ESPN ranked the Cards' roster 24th in talent. They really don't appreciate the value of veterans. The evaluators have never given Palmer his due. The system also doesn't value on-the-field leadership. If the NFL admin, and I mean you Goodell since yours is the only opinion that counts, ever gets off their collective butts and resolves the Washington issue, this team could challenge the Seahawks for the division. Then anything could happen. Be sure to thank ESPN for the motivational effort!

Its ESPN.

They care more about Sandusky's, Petersons, and Rice's than sports.

Well, look at it this way...Arians probably doesn't win COY with a more talented roster. ;) #glasshalffull

you would think that winning 10 and 11 games over the last two seasons would engender a bit more respect than that

Well, to be fair, Palmer has to stay healthy. He's not getting any younger. If he gets hurt, Stanton is a more than able fill-in. If Stanton goes down as well then we just can't win games.

24th seems low, but I'd have to look at it and think about it. One of the things is, this team is kind of lacking pure star power right now. We're VERY solid across the board, but who are the players on this team that are truly elite THIS year? One could argue that it's only really Calais Campbell and Patrick Peterson. They're the only two players on this roster that would go to a team and clearly start over all other options. Maybe Iupati? Maybe Veldheer?

I believe they have the Niners ranked 19... we are better than that hot mess in San Fran, and therefore their ranking is a bunch of malarkey

Yeah, hard to give credence to the network that is willing to soil Arthur Ashe's name by giving an award to a ******.

What really matters is what Steve Smith and Skip Bayless think :moon:.

Without even looking, I'm guessing their top 4 in some order is Denver, Philly, NE, and Seattle.

And Dallas most likely in there

You really think Peterson would start on other teams with the past 2 years he has had?

Calais? Yes. Peterson? No.

I would argue Veldheer is more "elite" than Peterson.

Peterson would start for 32 out of 32 teams in the NFL. He'd be the #1 receiver on at lest 28 of those teams.

No doubt Peterson starts on any NFL team.

I was really excited by the article in the paper here today where he says he is down 13 lbs from last season and feels fantastic. I'm sure we are going to see better breaks on the ball, and more big plays this year than the last two combined. Sure enough that I will bet all of your money on it kerouac.

Disagree with this post, surprisingly so. Though I don't necessarily agree with the article either.

How many pro bowlers do we have on this team. Cambell and maybe PP? Who else?

We aren't a team stacked with superstar talent. Other than Cambell and PP we're not dominant from position to position.

This isn't a team built on superstars, it's one built on depth.

It's one built on solid fundamental football play at depth across the team. There's a reason BA took Whis's apparently crap roster and made something happen, and it's not because of QB Palmer, especially last year.

I don't agree. BA is a very good HC but having CP is a major reason for the increase in wins. Don't forget that Whiz had this team on a 11-2 (IIRC) stretch without Warner as a QB. Smoke and mirrors can only last so long with DA & Bones & Lindley as your starting QB's.

I really doubt Peterson would start for 32 out of 32 teams with his play the last 2 years as a CB.

As a WR? Most definitely.

Oh--I get it. You're a troll.

Okay, I see you like to start a lot of threads about your worries about this team for the upcoming season, but not about the guy that got consistently burned last season(gave up 22 TDs the past 2 seasons) who is the most overpaid guy on this team. Why is that? Because I find it really odd.

11th in the NFL in adjusted success rate last season. Unless you think that luminaries like Josh Norman (CAR) and E.J. Gaines (STL) are going to repeat their success, I think that Patrick Peterson's job as a top cornerback is pretty secure.

This is the last time I'm going to talk to you about this topic.
