I read in his blog that D-backs were inquiring with the A's as to the availability of Haren. His numbers aren't astounding but he does have manageable contract and who knows how he might perform in the NL West. I think that he would definitely be worht dealing a prospect for.

In the article, Buster mentions Carlos Quentin, I wouldn't mind seeing him shipped out.

Dan Haren won 15 games on a very below average A's ball club with a 3.09 ERA IN THE AL! If you can team him up woth Webb in the front of our rotation without losing a current starter I'd have to beliwve we'd be the favorite in the NL...for a long time. I'd deal Quintin in a heartbeat for this guy! Heck, throw in more furure prospects as well...but no current starters (Upton, Young etc)

I'd do it in a hearbeat! It's be great to have another reliable arm! We would really have a solid staff with Davis, Webb, and Haren up front, and a healthy RJ could make this a great staff!

Don't really want to give up Gonzalez, but honestly, we don't have anywhere to put him! Grrr, I really don't want to give him up! We need starters, our weakness was starting pitching. It would just make me sick to see him go somewhere and become a star! I am all for Byrnes, and we need some veteran leadership, especially since it looks like Clark is gone, but man, can we find a spot for this young man??????

It would take Q, Carlos Gonzalez and Scherezer at a minimum to get Haren. I think we would have to part with either Young or Upton to get Haren which is a deal breaker. Blanton is a different story

why not trade Q and Gonzalez, we dont have anywhere to play them...

Byrnes would trade them in a heartbeat for Haren if he could. Unfortunately, that is just the starting price.

Beane has told the Yankees that it will take the same package (Hughes, Cabrera, and a minor league pitcher) that they are offering for Santana to get Haren. Same goes for Boston (2 out of Lester/Bucholtz/Ellsbury and a minor league pitcher) and the Mets (Carlos Gomez and Fernando Martinez, plus a minor league pitcher). The point is that both Blanton and Haren are signed through 2010 so Beane has all the leverage in the world. He doesn't have to trade either unless they meet his asking price. We have to hope the Angels can land Cabrera because there is no way the A's will beat the Angels with their lineup.

What would we have to part with to get Haren? Blanton?

It seems to me that it would take Carlos Gonzalez, Max Scherzer, and probably this Chris Carter kid for starters. That's all assuming Beane doesn't demand one of either Young/Upton/Reynolds/Owings
