Not a big surprise, but the question is how long will this stint last? I think he will be out a while to ensure he is 100%.

My question is, who can step in? Can Jamie D'Antona play the outfield or 1B and put Conor in LF. I also heard that Reynolds can play in the LF. I would like to see Jamie D'Antona get a chance to spark this lineup.

How about Jackson, Reynolds and Tracy covering LF, 3B and 1B every game?

Jackson and Tracy are probably our two most dependable hitters right now (along with Hudson).

And Reynolds (who is on pace for 34 HR and over 100 RBI's) is swinging much better.

Plus we need Tracy's left-handed bat in the lineup.

Put all three in, pick a spot for each of them them in the batting order and leave them there. Yeah, right. Not with Bob Brenly-Melvin making out the lineup cards every game.

I don't think Jamie D'Antona is part of the 40 man roster, I think they would need to make another move to bring him up.

He is hitting well in Trip A .383 w/10 HR

On the bright side this means more playing time for Tracy, who's generally a pretty consistent hitter. It also means his trade value may rise and he could be moved midseason if the D'backs think they can have a healthy/consistent left fielder.

I never wish any player to be injured. Realistically, Eric Byrnes being unavailable makes us a better team right now.

Perfect example of that. Reynolds started the season in the 6th spot and was great. Upton was great too, so they switched. Anyways, here are Reynolds numbers by the spot he hits in. He is a better hitter in the 5 spot. KEEP HIM THERE!!!!!!!!!!

Good research, bankybruce. I wonder if Melvin has anyone doing analyses such as this.

I honestly believe the answer is no, because of his failure to choose a batting order and give it a chance.

Also, regarding Eric Byrnes, I wonder how long the Diamondbacks are going to keep feeding its publicity partners the line that Byrnes is the face of the organization.

Between the .209 batting average and his other equally pathetic stats; his childish somersaults returning a ball to the infield; and his goofy swing, from his belt to up in the air with one hand . . .

He should hardly be the representative the D'backs are presenting to the public.

Webb-and-Haren should be featured. I really they are not in the lineup every day for turnstyle revenue, but between Byrnes' slumps and goofy baserunning, neither is he.

Ash and Burns are speculating that Byrnes may be done for the year. Also, apparently the injury was sustained while horsing around during spring training.

Didn't Josh Byrnes know that his namesake was extremely immature before giving him the big contract? Immature, and now rich.

Now it comes out that he injured himself while horsing around.

Which Byrnes came out the winner?

As a fan, am I pissed? You bet I am.

I would love to see Jaime D'Antona get a shot, after all the ups and downs the guy has had. He, Conor, and Carlos Quentin came in together as 'The Three Amigos' --

They were saying that Byrnes came into spring training not in the best shape.

If some of our players start using their speed like in the 2nd half last season, this is addition by subtraction in my opinion, replacing Byrnes with Tracy in the line-up.
