C.J. Goodwin is a talented young CB. It's surprising that the Falcons waived him. He's 6-3, 195 and fast. Goodwin has made a smooth transition over the past 2 years from WR to CB. He had 3 pass break ups in the Super Bowl. Could be too that at his size the Cardinals could use him to cover TEs. Credit Steve Keim for this acquisition.

Goodwin had a good Pro Day, being hand-timed at 4.31. The Steelers signed him as a UDFA, but he failed to make the roster after being slowed by a shoulder injury. He got picked up by the Falcons and did a nice job on special teams. He was moved to CB based on his athleticism and secure tackling ability. He’s serviceable as a gunner if they want to rest Baker. The Falcons actually had to play him at CB on the Super Bowl and he was surprisingly decent.

That said he struggled this season with defensive positioning. He’s okay playing man-to-man but it’s a much tougher adjustment playing zone. Stacked receivers likely pose a problem as well.
