As a junior in high school, Trevor Cahill says he was skinny and awkward and "all over the place." He wasn't a bad athlete, but he wasn't good enough to crack the Vista High baseball team's starting rotation.

A lot can change in seven years.

Cahill will make his debut for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday at Petco Park, facing the Padres team he grew up cheering for and pitching for the first time in San Diego.

That's how you get out of an inning. Groundballs = get out of jail free card.

It's time to relieve Collmenter of his misery

Saturday night, Collmenter not only gives up 5 runs in 4 innings, but he . . .

Throws pitch after pitch -- fastballs right down the middle, including to the pitcher on an 0-2, who drives in a run.

Is late in covering 1B, allowing the batter to get on, then . . .

Wanders around, while the runner scores from second.

That's not just a case of losing it as a pitcher. It's a question of attitude.

He needs to be removed from the rotation and sent down to the Minors without further delay, to see if he can get his head on straight, gain confidence in himself and see if he has what it takes to have a second season like his first season.
