Cal is coming off a disappointing road loss to Nevada while Arizona comes off an emotional big win over Iowa. I could see the possibility of a letdown from Arizona and some extra motivation out of Cal. Who wins this and why?

Could be a letdown game, but Arizona is simply a better team.

Yeah, but there's been 'one step forward, two steps back' issues with Arizona ever since Mike Stoops arrived if not since forever. That's the only thing that concerns me with this game even if we are the superior team.

Injuries are a concern for me, especially with Criner's injury. They need to put a lot of pressure on Riley.

Knowing that this team has Rose Bowl aspirations it's hard to imagine a let down game, since in the grand scheme the Iowa game doesn't matter there. However, as Cats fans I think we've been trained to almost expect the worst, so we'll see.

Cal was vastly overrated because they played 2 horrible teams. Nevada exposed that defense and Kevin Riley.

Riley is Derek Anderson, good athlete, great arm, very inconsistent accuracy and misses high over and over.

Shane Vereen is amazing, uncanny feet and balance, but he's really having to carry the load because Riley is so inconsistent. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sweeney if Riley struggles again.

I didn't actually see the Nevada game because of work, but Cal did score 31 points and had 277 passing yards. I know he threw 3 picks, but I still wouldn't overlook Riley and the Cal offense.

Much of that was later in the game, Riley was really struggling when it counted.

Cal does have some weapons, Vereen is great, Keenan Allen the freshman very good, Marvin Jones very good, they have a TE Miller that had a couple of big plays. But Riley is just so inconsistent it really hurts them.

And the defense is not nearly as good as the first 2 games made them look.

Man, that was an ugly win, but I'll take it. :D

Man, #9 on the :cats: is freakin' stupid. You get an INT with under 40 seconds left sit yer butt down. Crap fumble, we got lucky.

I'll take it too, but that was ugly.

He should have had a pick 6 early in the game too, it went right through his hands.

My heart stopped when Perkins tried to go the distance with it. The mature play is to just fall down in that situation. Thankfully we recovered and this is a non-issue, but dont think his coaches forgot about that play.....

Time to draw up some new plays. I think someone's offense has been over-scouted. No way Cal should've been within two touchdowns of Arizona.

The 3 turnovers helped too. Regardless, Arizona needs to simply line up and run more often. Foles will be fine, a little balance is only going to free things up more for him.

A win is a win is all I can say, Arizona still has not played well this year and is 4-0. However this team can't continue losing turnover and penalty battles and expect to win games.

Do they remind you of ASU in '07 at all? Iowa's better than ASUs big OoC opponent that year, Colorado. But it seems like UAs got a very favorable schedule, like ASU did that year, allowing them to rack up a bunch of wins early in the year while facing a rather backloaded schedule.

A more difficult schedule than ASU (Iowa and possibly Toledo are probably better than any Hawkins CU squad) that year but similar nonetheless. Like ASU that year I think we're clearly the third best team in the conference with the top 2 being in a whole other conversation. Pac is also a whole lot deeper now than then too. Maybe Andrew Luck will get hurt and we can back our way into a Pac-10 Co-Champion banner like ASU did after Dennis Dixon's injury.
