Well I actually predicted this on Bruinzone so I am not all that surprised, Cal has the best frontline in the conference and with UCLA's current injury situation my concerns came to light. With both Fey and Hollins out, and Wright playing limited minutes on a sprained ankle, UCLA had only Mata, Mbah a Moute, and Aboya to match up and Cal's frontline of Powe, Hardin and Benson outplayed them badly.

UCLA doubled Powe the whole game, only 5 points, but he had 12 boards and did a nice job passing out of the double team. With the UA/UW game running long I missed the first half, but from what I have read, he pretty quickly got moute in foul trouble which was the basis of my prediction on Bruinzone. Cal controlled the boards which limited UCLA's chances to break, and in the halfcourt, Cal shut them down.

Farmar was a gametime decision, guys at the game said literally about 90 minutes before the game he was on th ecourt with Howland and the medical staff going through drills before they cleared him to play. He then played 36 minutes because they decided if he can go, the worst thing is to sit him and let the ankle stiffen up. He had on 6 points, shot poorly, he wasn't really limping but you could see he was jumping off his left leg not his right. The problem was his backup Collison didn't react that well, he had 8 points, but he had 0 assists(UCLA had 5 as a team) and 3 turnovers. They really needed him to pick up the slack from Farmar as he did against Stanford after Jordan got hurt, but he didn't do it yesterday.

The key play of the game was with Cal up 2, Afflalo stripped Ubaka on a drive to the bucket, instead of grabbing the ball with 2 hands, Collison tried to grab and dribble it with one hand, Ubaka ripped it away, and went up and scored. Huge turnaround.

Great game by Cal.
