The Texas Longhorns could be on the verge of filling one of their greatest roster needs. The Longhorns are expected to host Cal transfer tight end Jack Endries for a visit. The former Cal tight end entered the transfer portal just a few days ago. He is one of the top options available at his position.

Over the past two seasons, Endries has been a reliable option in the passing game. He has hauled in 91 catches for 1,031 yards and four touchdowns. During the 2024 campaign, Endries finished with 623 receiving yards, the third-most receiving yards among ACC tight ends.

Following Gunnar Helm's departure to the 2025 NFL Draft, the Longhorns have had a hole at tight end. While they have some intriguing options in Jordan Washington, Shannon Spencer, Emaree Winston, and Will Randle, they lack experience. Adding Endries to the mix would give them a veteran who has had success.

Although the California native is a priority for the Longhorns, they will face competition. He has already heard from some of the top schools in the country, and that should continue the longer Endries stays on the market. When he arrives in Austin, the Longhorns will be looking to give him a pitch he can't turn down.

In March, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian said that tight end was one position they would like to fill in the portal, and now an elite talent is available.

"Naturally, there are a couple of positions depth-wise where we're not where we need to be right now," Sarkisian said in March. "We'll look at the portal that way. Our numbers are down at receiver right now from a scholarship standpoint. Our numbers are down on the defensive line from where our numbers really should be. And our number's really down at the tight end. It's not a secret that we'll look to the portal, but I don't want to take a guy just for a number."

Adding Endiers to the mix would give Arch Manning another weapon and upgrade one of the Longhorns' few holes. Over the next few weeks, Endiers will be a player to watch.
