I'm excited to hear the front office tell us how excited we are about Calais and how he's an essential member of our defense...

...until Free Agency opens and Campbell leaves town for a $40 million contract with $20 million guaranteed.

I think a Season Ticket purchase for Cards fans should automatically come with a portable blood pressure monitor. Or, at least a Surgeon General's warning.

I am with you... They have done just about everything possible to crap on me as a fan.

If Campbell leaves I think that will be the straw that breaks the camels back with me.

Graves never learns.

It's not all on him...trust me!!! Think the guy with the checkbook still doesn't have a say? Ownership + Graves= what we seen almost every year!!!

Why is anyone really suprised about CC's comments...I'm not. :bang:

I actually think Campbell will be with the Cards next year but that will in spite of Graves. I think one of two things happens, they either tag him or Graves gives him a monster contract and caves into CC's agent because they hold all the leverage. This seems to be Graves's MO. He completely caved in Fitz's first renewal and did the same with Warner.

One of these days, hopefully, they will recognize the guys that can play and extend them the year prior to their FA year. I forget who mentioned it, but Graves seems to wait and see if they get injured or their play drops off instead of expecting a guy improve and move to the next level. They never recognized a guy about to blossom and lock them up long term. It's always seems to be done under the deadline of impending free agency.

You guys are reading too much into this. The report a few days ago was the Cards would start talking with CC's agent soon. They never said they were already negotiating.

“When you are trying to develop a championship team, you can’t just let guys leak out of here,” Dockett said. “We are trying to get back to the Super Bowl and be a powerhouse team, we can’t just work together, we also have to have the guys here, the weapons to get that done.”

9-0 speaks the truth.

it was me. this team has ZERO foresight whatsoever, nor the ability to judge talent already on the team unless it's wiggle on your face Pro-Bowl talent like Fitz/Wilson/Dockett.

that's EXACTLY the problem Gator. There's no reason this team shouldn't have locked him up already, or at the worst started contract extension talks with him a month ago.

not that he's on the same talent level, but aren't the Cards in the same boat with Doucet? He needs to stay on the team, imo

he's a nice number 3 WR and i wouldn't mind seeing us paying him as such.

I'd have to disagree here. I see no reason to have any wide receivers. Obviously, Kolb isn't going to use them so why waste money on them.

I don't mind them seeing how CC does for a majority of the year... I think a deal will get done while the team is home for 3 weeks in late November, early December.

Maybe instead of wide receivers we should have narrow receivers, whatever that means.:D

You're playing Russian Roulette when you do this. They know what they have in Calais and they should have been working on a deal long before this. Yes, there's a risk of injury but it's not as great as the risk you take doing nothing. If they needed proof of that all they have to do is look around the league at all the ex-Cardinals that we couldn't keep. But, this particular Cards problem pre-dates Graves.

They still have the advantage to negotiate and sign him well before any other team. Sure it's risky but they can give him 6-7 mil next week for security followed by 15-20 mil guaranteed over the next few years. I think it gets done. I doubt they want to franchise him either.

IMO when the team plane lands there should be a contract waiting for Campbell. One that he absolutely will want to sign.
