It seems that both of our trades this offseason were better for the other team then for us. But maybe this Buckner will be a solid starter. Or even a decent pitcher. Who knows?

I'm guessing right about now you arn't so worried about other GM's taking advantage of our boy Byrnes;)

The one attribute Buckner has that really leads me to believe he's going to be a decent pickup and a solid pitcher is his bulldog mentality. He's never going to blow anyone away with his stuff but he's got the "You're Not Going To Hit Off Me" mentality that I really like.

And he doesn't let ground balls go through his legs. :)

I liked this trade as well.

I could see Callaspo as being a Dana Eveland in which Eveland's stats in the minors made you drool. Once he hit the bigs though he made you want to vomit. I could see Callaspo being one of those players who just cant transition to the MLB level from AAA.

I imagine Buckner being our future no. 5 starter by 2009. Though, if RJ does not stay healthy in 08 we could see him sooner then excpected.

If RJ can't play that #5 spot will probably be a revolving door. Not the end of the world when you're as solid as the Dbacks are 1-4.
