You'd think after 10 completely winless years they would just ditch the program, I would imagine it bleeds a lot of cash. Good for the players to finally get one though.
I figured that it would be the travel that is the biggest strain on the budget, but if they most play California teams then I guess it isn't so bad.The school that I went to is part of a three college team that currently leads the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which Caltech is a part of. Nobody is on scholarship. The coaches of Division III teams like that have other responsibilities (like teaching PE classes). All the games are played in multi-purpose gyms that the schools would have anyway. There really is very little cost related to having a basketball team.
