He played at Wake Forest, which originally was named after my hometown in North Carolina (the most beautiful small town in the world). The university moved to Winston Salem in the 1940's with money from tobacco company R.J Reynolds (Camel).

From Len Pasqurelli:

One player moving rapidly up draft boards, particularly with clubs that use a 3-4 defensive alignment, is Wake Forest defensive end Calvin Pace. At his workout this week, Pace weighed 267 pounds, ran in the mid-4.6s and demonstrated surprisingly good skills in linebacker drills. Pace isn't getting as much attention as some of the "edge" rushers in this draft, but his ability to play with his hand on the ground or in a two-point stance is earning him plenty of looks from the 3-4 clubs. ..

He would be there in the second round when we pick, and could be the rush end that we are looking for.

I'm holding back on my mock until free agency signing.....but if we fail to sign a DE then IMHO we should go after a pass rushing DE in Round 2. There doesn't seem to be anyone after Suggs who's a DE and worthy of a #6 pick. If we draft best available at 1 (Newman/Leftwich) then at #2 it should be someone like Pace or Cory redding from Texas at DE.

I watched Pace in Wake's bowl game and he was limping around with a bad leg but still put some pressure on the QB.

He sounds like he could be a starting end in the league, just based on his workout numbers alone. He's bigger than Suggs, but about as quick. Not nearly the football player, but he had pretty good stats too.

Cory Redding is another guy that should be on our radar, as well as Dwayne White and Antwuan Peek. If we can't get Suggs, which looks very likely, I would like to see us trade down and pick up additionally picks. I would love to see a scenario where we could increase our picks in the top sixty to 3-4 picks (the more the merrier).
