We just witnessed what that is. TOTAL team effort. He can't take us out of playoff - Big games.

I appreciate what Carson was able to do this year. Ready to take that next step. Football IS a team game. Lets Go Big Red. 2016-17! :newcards:

Payton didn't win this game for the Broncos, not even close. The d was the reason they made it to the big game and won it. So yes, it takes a team to win super bowls, but if a qb is struggling, he could be the reason they lose.

That was not a total team effort that was defense defense defrnse.

If we played Denver tonight they would of sent Palmer out on a stretcher. I think we need to protect him better and improve our pass rush

I like Palmer but he does seem to make a lot of mistakes in big games some of those throws in the playoffs were just head scratching

It takes a team to win a Super Bowl unless your name is Brady, Peyton (from 10 years ago), etc.

Carson can do it, but he's not among the elites who can do it all by himself. The entire team needs to play well, too.

I think Palmer can facilitate a Super Bowl Championship. As I said on another thread, there HAS to be an effective pass rush. And better protection of the QB. Pass Rush HAS to improve!!!

Yup, their defense would have absolutely destroyed our line and we wouldn't be able to touch Peyton had we played in the SB. We are an offensive line revamp and defensive pass rush away from a SB.

Other team members either help get him out of a hole or sink him deeper in. Such as not fielding a punt could have gone either way but it went totally wrong at the wrong moment. Could have been big but...well, it was big, in a negative way.

Carson is responsible for the loss two weeks ago as Newton is today. Both can play up when others help but can't do it all and over come the other players negatives.

Miller played the best two games that I have seen a LB play since Taylor. Ware was also relentless. Arizona doesn't have players who can get to the QB like this, they have older players on the cheap and undersized lineman, like Minter and Golden.

Carson would do fine as a game manager with a stud defense, but he is more regular season numbers guy vs. huge game winning QB. That's not bad at all, it's really good actually, but it isn't elite, so unless Carson has a real defense I do not think he can win games by himself, he isn't that QB.

The good news, is the Cardinals if aggressive can fix these issues, the need a edge rusher and a real linebacker, dump Massie and Larson, the team is already improved. And let's mention Badger is back next year. The Cards will be top 5-6 overall, so they will have a chance.

Edit: I meant Rucker not Minter...But I also think Minter is a soft LB, who could be replaced as well, too bad Washington is ********, because that would solve that issue.

That's pretty much it. If the Cardinals want to be a serious contender to win a SB, they better drastically improve their pass rush. The Broncos pass rush made it impossible for Cam to much.

Minter is not soft... he is just not very agile or fast

I just watched one Super Bowl Quarterback shamelessly plug a product that kills more people than cancer and kiss a pizza douche, while the other Quarterback acted like every other punk jock (in the entire history of punk jocks) that gloats when he wins and pouts when he loses.

When this franchise does win a Championship, I hope it is with people like Carson that display class and maturity.

To be honest, I think Golden is a pass rusher in the making. I bet he does alot better next year.

When I watched that game last night, it was very apparent that the Cardinals had a team this year, and potentially have a team next year, that can get to the Superbowl and win the Superbowl.

The Panthers kicked our butt this year, but I would still like our chances if we played them again.

Carson Palmer is good enough, our interior offensive line is not.

Our secondary of Peterson, Bethel, Mathieu, Bucannon is good enough, our front seven is not.

In both cases, the possibility of improving those two areas is very possible.

BAL won in 2000 with Trent Diller. TB won it in 2002 with Brad Johnson. Neither QB was a world killer but both of those teams had killer defenses and a strong running game.

What I don't like about Carson is that he makes a lot of mistakes, granted mostly when he's pressured but instead of throwing the ball away, he throws into double coverage or takes a sack. I know he's not Russell Wilson or Cam Newton but he needs to get the ball out of his hands quicker like a Tom Brady because he ain't gonna be running away from or evading defenders at his age.

I would agree with all of this, Rugby.

There is something to be said about humility as well. Jim Nance and Phil Simms brought this up last night. At least our QB has the humility to stand up and tell the world he messed up. I think that kind of humility is bred in champions and it gives me hope for the Cardinals if, as you say so well, they improve up front on both sides of the ball.

I would mention this as well---while it seems like a wasted year for RT D.J. Humphries, he is a modern day offensive tackle who is strong AND athletic enough to block speedy and quick edge rushers. When Humphries can start to find his groove, he can be one of the major upgrades.

We are closer than most, to be honest.

we have two playmakers... PP and HB and one of them is coming off his second ACL. We're not close to the Broncos D at all. They have TWO killer pass-rushers, they have a very good D line and they have multiple playmakers in the secondary.

The best three offenses we played were the Panthers, Bengals and Seattle twice. They scored an average of 37 points in the four games we played. The #5 ranking was a mirage for the most part, IMO. We have no difference makers in the front 7. That's gonna be SUPER tough to remedy in one off-season. They have to get at least one difference maker on the line and in the LBing core. I'll be interested to see how they go about doing that.

That's what the Cardinals need to continue to work on. That O-line would have been torn to shreds by Denver. Our D could not slow down Cam Newton with spotty tackling and no rush. There is still a long way to go in both these areas for the Cardinals to be considered a serious contender.

IF they DO make strides in those area's this FA season (AND LESS LIKELY THE DRAFT), then yes they can continue to build on what they just were able to accomplish this past regular season and playoff W. Then maybe they can be a team like Denver who just needs someone to call a smart game and not turn the ball over. At this point in his career Palmer isn't going to put a team on his back, but he needs to learn what just transpired and adjust in the big games. Taking what the D is giving and NO MORE.

Two dynamic pass rushers and fix the right side of the OL... that can be done, and maybe Cooper and Humphries makes us closer than we think during the next two years because we do not have to play a series of games in the playoffs like basketball or baseball, I am pumped about the possibilities

LOL... we've gone about 16 years trying to find ONE dynamic pass rusher and fixing the O-line... but in one off-season we're going to be able to find TWO dynamic pass rushers and fix the right side of the line? I'll be happy with finding a solid pass rusher and getting someone to play C who's got a pulse.

My bad, by dynamic I mean speed and that is not unreal and I do not think it is unlikely that we can fix half our line and might already have the pieces in Cooper and Humphries... that can be accomplished to a level where we have a chance in the playoffs :)
