Nonsense. Only reason it may be an issue is either 1) people haven't got over the old Tempe location, or 2) another reason to complain about gas prices.

I live in the North Valley and it's about the same distance to either stadium.

Keep in mind that the article is from the EAST VALLEY Tribune. Just hack journalists trying to talk smack.

Sour grapes from the Tribune. Powerless to outdo the Larue Gates contingent.

Yeah, it's not like the East Valley wasn't given tons of chances. Could have been in a couple Tempe locations, Mesa or even on the Gila River Reservation.

As an East Valley resident, I would prefer it would be over here, but props to Glendale and the west side for stepping up. That stadium is a cash-sucking machine and will only bring more money to that side of town with the BCS championship and the 2008 Super Bowl.

I think the majority of season ticket holders in the past were from the East Valley so that's why there's a lot of groaning. I wish it would have been built over here, but the drive out to Glendale from east Mesa isn't as long as I thought it would be. You all got it fair & square so congrats.
What gets me the most is the asshats in Mesa will never admit or maybe even realize they shot themselves in the foot over this.

As a west sider, I lobbied my friends and family from the east side to approve the Rio Salado Crossing project, but I kept getting the same anti-tax for anything anywhere talk. Remember that even the approved initiative was a loser on the east side. There seems to be a group think out there that the only beneficiary of the stadium would be the team, therefore, only the team should pay for its construction.

Their stupidity is our gain. Welcome to Glendale!

The Tribune doesn't like to acknowledge that news exists beyond the city line of Phoenix, and when they do, it's usually in a snarky, snob like manner looking down at those who don't grace the East Valley.

Personally, I've lived here 20+ years and I've never met anyone who didn't like one or the other, with the exception of people who worked and managed the Trib.

It's kind of amusing that way.
