Daryl Washington’s suspension didn’t follow the usual path:

While everyone involved is keeping very quiet regarding the situation, we’ve learned that Washington did not trigger a four-game suspension via three positive tests. As best we can tell, there was an initial positive test that was the result of a genuine mistake, followed by two additional violations unrelated to a positive test.

The other violations came from the league’s stringent requirements regarding the testing and/or treatment portion of the substance-abuse program. With the league still possessing full authority over the appeals process, it became even harder for Washington’s position to prevail.

As a result, the Cardinals currently have no concerns about Washington, and both sides believe the relationship will continue well into the future.

The other violatiosn could have been missed treatment program meeting or missed tests or even finishing the program in time. We may never know for sure though.

sounds like he refused to take the test...they probably made arraignments and he skipped out.

Either way he had not 3 but 4 opportunities....THIS MAKES IT LOOK EVEN WORSE

4 TIMES (possibly 5) - what a numskull

He will soon learn that the NFL is a privilege not a right. Pro Bowl or not - violating league substance policy is bad bad news. If he does it 1 more time it's a full year suspension. The Cardinals cannot afford to have faith in a player who can't keep his (you know what) together.

It's sad the Cards met with him 3 prior times and he never listened.

He fails one more time and the Cards will drop him and he'll never see an NFL field again.

Yep. The first time he got caught with something it could have been an honest mistake. Although I never by that excuse, either your flat out dumb or straight up lying.

The next two violations could have been failing the drug education program. It could also mean he missed two random drug tests. When in the program the player is randomly told they have 24 hours to get to the nearest collection spot for a test. If they don't show up in that 24 hours it counts as a "fail". Even if you are in India when you get that phone call it doesn't matter, you better be on a flight to NYC, ASAP.

You are assuming way too much. It could have missed deadlines to finish the treatment program as well. You are making is sound like he just did not want to take tests.

I thought I read a while ago that when you're in 'the program' you can't drink either as they test you for alcohol as well.

It's possible, though how likely is obviously uncertain, that he tested positive for pot or something else, quit whatever that was, but since he was in the program, he later tested positive for alcohol a couple of times, triggering the suspension.

So it could be something like this, which IMO would be a travesty of horrible rule making. But it most likely isn't since there are so many different ways he could of screwed up. If we're going to speculate all the things that could have happened, then I'd guess this was possible too.

If it was though, there should be rule changes as I haven't heard of him getting a DUI, or battering his woman, or something crazy that alcohol might influence. Whether or not it is or isn't in this case, I think this should be changed. I don't think it is right to suspend someone for drinking a beer, if they didn't commit a DUI or something like that. It's a travesty waiting to happen for some team.

Sounds to me that he missed scheduled tests...that is automatically considered a failed test.

My best take:

He made a mistake that triggered a positive (he loves poppyseed muffins, an over the counter med he thought was ok but wasnt, etc)

That automatically put him in the program.

Now he has had two program violations--missed test, missed appointment, alcohol positive etc.

If this is the case. There is a problem with the system that does not allow for such mistakes.

As an optimist I choose to go with this outlook. :)

Where is everyone getting pot from? Was that stated by the league or the team?

My first thought was Adderall.

pot is the most commonly used and stays in your system the longest. Everyone is just grasping straws and pot straws are large.

I just like to say that quote any chance I get.

huh? that's not a problem with the system. the system is designed to keep players honest after they've already failed and give them chances to prove they're staying within the system. if they fail that system TWICE, after already having failed initially to put them into the system, the problem is on the player, not the system he's willfully disobeying.

Adderall is under the PED list. Not what he was suspended for.

The answer is quite simple: DWash is high on life, and the No Fun League can't have any of that...it'll ruin their rep.
