I think if they have any shot at the playoffs, they will have to win out. Can they do that?

The margin for error is too fine for us to run the table IMO. We'll always look back at the Niners and Carolina games as the ones that blew the playoffs for us.

Knowing our luck, we'll win the the next three games, but so will the Vikings keeping us out of the playoffs.

Of course.

They still have a shot at the playoffs as well.

IF (notice big if) we get in I don't think we can do too much.

Our team doesn't have the depth to deal with all the injuries we have had this year.

For us to make the play-offs, the Cards have to win out, AND the Skins must lose one game and the Vikes have to lose 2. Once you have to count on hitting a trifecta to make it, you're done.

IMO, we lost all realistic hope of making the play-offs when we screwed the pooch against the 49ers last week. I didn't see anyway that we were going to win in Seattle.

Go Cards!!!

The Vikes would really only need to win 2 as they win the tiebreakers in the event both teams finish at 9-7..

The Cards have to win out, the Skins have to lose one and the Vikes have to lose two.

Let's see, in two weeks, we have Washington at Minnesota. I'm pretty sure one of those teams will lose.

The Vikings close their season in Denver which will be no picnic for them, and the Redskins get the Cowboys to close the season which may be winnable since Dallas will probably already have homefield advantage locked up by then.

In any event, the season is by no means over.

First thingsfirst..NO next Sunday. Everything is still there for our Cards. I just hope we don't play catch up with New Orleans on the road. Get through that and anything is possable.

Won't be a blowout. Will be a close game that we'll lose. Probably in dramatic fashion.

There is one potential blowout left on the schedule...the Rams game. Yes, the rams.

Of course we can win but not by looking at it as a three game set. Just focus on the Saints. Win that one first.

tell that to Wiz who made a comment about "we have to win out to have a shot at the playoffs". That kind of rubbed me the wrong way. If he's not taking it one game at a time... well... i don't know. This team started talking about playoffs wayyyyy too early.

Yep. They actually started talking about it way back in September and October.

You can talk about the playoffs back in October. Nothing wrong with it. Certainly doesnt mean you arent taking each week as they come.

I don't buy that. Especially with a team like ours. I mean look at the Pats. All anyone wants to do is talk to them about an undefeated season and all any of them ever say is that all they're focussed on is the next game.

I do. You can be 3-2 and talk about the playoffs. Doesnt mean you arent concentrating on the game at hand. Thats like saying that if they are talking about the movie they plan on attending next week they arent focused on their task at hand that week.

Talk is that just talk. If you truly expect no mention of the playoffs from the players you are asking WAY to much.

I don't think it meant that at all. These are the guys who were talking inch by inch and if they had playoffs on their minds they would have folded up after the loss to SF and been clobbered by the Browns.

They just, as they did at the start of the season, have a weak secondary and teams have exploited it all year. They can get turnovers and win but without them they get torched and they lose.

Well, it still doesn't sit well with me that the Carolina game, in particular, had guys sitting out to save themselves for the "stretch run" and we blew that game against a gawdawful team. Every game is so damn important, you shouldn't look past any of them at all. And, if you do, you'd better be damn good.

How nice would that "w" look now?

We can also get in if the Vikings lose one game, and detroit wins one more. Detroit and Minnesota are in the same division, and the Lions have a better divisional record then the Vikings so they would eliminate the Vikings. The divisional tie breaker is applied first, which would then leave the Lions and the Cardinals, which the Cardinals win.

If the Vikings, Lions, and Cardinals all finish 9-7 we're in. We would need the Redskins to lose one game as well, but one of their games is against the vikings, so that could take care of itself.

Unlikely yes, but far more likely then counting on the Vikings to go 1-2 to finish the season. Either way, we need to go 3-0 to have a chance. The Cardinals haven't won 3 straight since 1998.

The Saints looked scary-good last night (almost New England-like in their execution). If they play that well Sunday, we will have to play better than we have all year in order to beat them.

The other two games are winnable, but it's really more about us than it is about them.

Right now, the Vikes are one-up on us and are playing at a high level. We could run the table and still not make the playoffs.

On the other hand, we could wind up 9 & 7 (a winning record - best since the playoff year). At the very least, our guys should be have enough pride to want to accomplish that.

Not entirely true. If the Vikes lose one (and must be a loss to an NFC opponent) and we win out...AND Detroit wins out, we would beat out both teams via tiebreakers. So all is not lost!
