Can we all agree to sit Emmitt down for good now?

It was a nice experiment. Kudos to the front office for taking a risk. Kudos to Emmitt for being a professional and giving this his best effort.

Now keep him on the bench for the rest of the year and give Shipp & Anderson the ball. This team isn't going anywhere in 2003 and they will only get better with experience.

The anti-Emmitts were right - signing him was a mistake.

I wonder how the rest of the season would have played out if they let Marcell play. It's amazing that this kid (along with Damian Anderson) has been sitting on the bench. Our coaches should be proud of themselves. No wonder why Sullivan tried to quit!! He must have realized he's an idiot!!!!!

Giving it a shot was not a mistake.

Playing him after it's obvious that Shipp is better is.

I agree, if it had worked it could have been a great move, but Mac will show exactly why he should be fired when he hands the job back to an undeserving Emmit Smith.:-|

That is the rub isn't it. Our adjustments and reads are just slow we take whole seasons to figure out what other teams figure out in a game or two.

I knew we'd have a chance today because we had the bye week to gameplan. This staff is knowlegeable just a bit slow on the uptake for the NFL.

I predict next week we will go back to our predictable non-adjusting, easy to defend ways.

Maybe Smith will see it and realize he's not the best back on the team and let Mac off the hook.I doubt that will happen but it's pretty obvious that Emmitt is not even the 2nd best back on the team.If his name wasn't Emmitt Smith then he probably would've been cut.The difference in speed is phenominal.

We would be total idiots not to recognize Shipp is the better of the two players at this point in their carreers. Let Emitt give Shipp a break now and then but then again Anderson did not look like dog meat.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of.

I was one of those who applauded the signing of Emmitt. However, it hasn't worked out. When Emmitt returns, he can still contribute, but Shipp has to remain the starter. No question, Coach Mac is on the hot seat. One of his weaknesses has been his reluctance to make changes during the season. If he gives the ball back to Emmit, he will be out as HC. I no longer think this team can win without RB Shipp.

Not to take anything away from Shipp, but is it any coincidence that the o-line played so well today and he rolled up all those yards. This is not the same unit that got its ass handed to it in Dallas.

It isnt true-but they did today what they should have been doing all along. Use their size to manhandle a smaller defensive front.

Shipp just hits the hole with much more authority than emmitt does!

About Anderson: He deserves playing time too--and not just special teams. I thought he should have gotten more playing time in the fourth quarter when Shipp was looking a little gassed.

I posted a thread over a month ago saying Smith needs to sit and Shipp should start and there were a number of Cardinal fans who said Smith should still start. I'm glad to see almost everyone is now in agreement that Shipp should start.

Thought the Smith signing was a mistake from day one. We had far bigger needs than RB. Shipp earned the job last year and Anderson did well when given a chance.

I am afraid we haven't seen the last of Emmitt though.

I agree. He ran hard when he was in there, and was very derermined to get yardage. Emmitt was a nice distraction, but he's done as far as I'm concerned. even making hi a "#rd down back" will rob time from Anderson.

Today, on radio, Tom Zenner tried to pin McGinnis down about this subject and for the first time I'm aware of, McGinnis would not say Emmitt would start when healthy.

Dave dodged the question repeatedly.

LOve the Shipp man, can't play without him, needs 25-30 carries per game. We should be E-mailing the Cards now. We want Shipp man now and only. I wanted Smith thought he would spark something, well gang he did..We will see how this plays out but it could get nasty.

GO SHIPP GO. You can't sink the Shipp. The shipp is pulling out of the harbour up field. THe Shipp is strong and fleet of feet. THe Shipp brings us joy and comfort in our homes anmd on the street.

If you want the fastest way to send your xmas gifts send via SHIPP, fast, accurate and on tiome!

GBR
I love this game.

Trade deadline passed, would have to be after the season.
