Regardless of your feelings on the propriety of the undertaking and whatever diety you recognize can we pause for a moment to fervently hope that our young men and woman in harms way be protected until they return to the arms of their loved ones and for those who give what Lincoln called the "last full measure of devotion" may a merciful God grant them peace and place his saving arms around them.

"our" men and women

I'm sort of like "jesus" - ALL men and women are "mine"...
Ah yes - war - the sport of the rich - the working class as pawns.
Still - I'm hoping the best for my brother in law - husband and father he is.....

ChiCard - agreed.

My hope is for as little death as possible, and a quick return home for our troops.

I think anyone in their right mind would have to hope that the situation can be resolved with the minimum of bloodshed.

ChiCard,

You are a wonderful human being.

I too hope and pray for as little bloodshed as possible. I also hope the Iraqi military heirarchy see the futility of their position and the inevitability of the outcome. It's sad this is necessary and the world has leaders such as Hussein. I believe the world will be a safer place (I didn't say safe) after he is gone. I believe this must be done. There are hard, lifelong lessons I've learned in my two combat tours over there. Clint Eastwood said it best in the movie "Unforgiven"........

" It's a hell of a thing killing a man, you take away all that he is, and all that he's ever gonna be........."

The outpouring of goodwill on this bulletin board means alot to me and the other sevicemen and women who read these posts.

I know some of the posters have already left to go over there and aren't getting the benefit of reading your goodwill, make sure you let them hear it when they get back. Luckily for me, I returned home just in time to do a u-turn and head back so I have read all the well wishing. Thank you all from me and them.

I'll catch you guys in 8-9 months. Just in time for the Cards run in the playoffs. :)

Shane H,

Thanks for being a friend to a total stranger. I can't take you up on the offer for the Patron, I won't be here to get it. Maybe we can drink it when I get back. You know... "Stomp some brain cells and kill some stories" Thanks again bro.

You know what's really sick?

The Iraqi soldiers are lied to and told that they will be killed or tortured by the US if they surrender. In some cases, their families are also threatened, meaning that if a soldier surrenders they may harm his family.

I hope to god those bastards stop fighting because they really don't have a chance in hell, and anyone in their right mind will tell you that.

The non-Republican Guard troops are poor ignorent men who are forced into the situation. Killing them will accomplish nothing. I pray they have the sense to give up.
