http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-6-0/Why-would-Pats-turn-down-12th-pick-for-Cassel-.html

I have been reading this Patriots/Broncos/KC story with a lot of intrigue today and have come to the conclusion that the Broncos now HAVE to trade Cutler. Its not like McDaniels has a lot of equity built up in Denver already and they sure as hell aren't firing him. Everyone keeps saying the Bronco's have to repair this but I just don't see how. Its obvious there is something in Cutlers makeup that McDaniels doesn't like. He doesn't seem like the prototypical Pat QB I would venture.

So.....They HAVE to get a young QB back in any trade with potential or this could be a disaster.

So who here cuts off all this Warner crap and trades Matt and a 2nd rounder to Broncos for Cutler?? As a Matt backer even that thought intrigues me a bit.....

The thought of Cutler to Fitz is just sickening.....

So we let Warner walk, trade Leinart and a pick (i'd give a third rounder) for Jay Cutler.

I like it.

He's a cry baby...

"I'm upset. I mean, I'm really shocked at this point," Cutler told The Post. "I could see why they want Cassel. I don't know if they think I can't run the system or I don't have the skills for it. Or if they don't think they can sign me with my next contract. I just don't know what it is. I've heard I'm still on the trading block."

Dont want him. Leinart is just as good if not better and he knows the system and has been learning behind one of the best.

I can imagine Cutler in a variety of colors. Tope, avacado, and even a burgandy. Cardinal red isn't much of a stretch.

Screw that! When Leinart gets his chance, he's going to be better than Cutler by far. He's been learning how to read defenses at the feet of the master and we're going to throw that way to Denver and take on their problem? That is, Cutler is good. Just good enough to break your heart for a solid decade.

I like Cutler he has a fabulous arm but the one fear I would have is if you look at the numbers there isn't a coach in the NFL who gets more out of his Qb's than Mike shanahan. Elways best years under Shanahan, he made Brister and Frerotte near Pro Bowl Qb's, he got Jake PLummer into the Pro Bowl.

I realize Cutler is young and improving but it's pretty likely that he's not going to be as good as he looked under Shahanan and I suspect that's what McDaniels is afraid of.

Yup.

I really don't see why giving Matt a whirl is such a boring idea that everyone is comming up with any way possible to avoid it.

You'd think we were nearly stuck with going with Josh or something the way a lot of people want to imagine any possible scenario other than Matt.

New England just robbed KC for a guy that couldn't even beat Matt out in college.

I firmly believe Matt will be fine but even if he's not you'd think they'd at least give him one year starting to prove he's not.

Just makes more sense to go with that guy and remove all doubt then move on if he stinks.

Second.

Why trade Leinart after grooming him for the last two years......why trade Leinart at all actually. The idea has never made sense.

Wow - I am actually pleasently surprised by the reaction of this thread. I thought many would be ready to buy Matt his ticket out of town to bring in a AFC Pro Bowl QB with that arm.

Saying all that I would keep Matty too for the reason SWD said. I just really belive all this time on the bench has put a chip on his shoulder and given him an idea of what it takes to succeed in the NFL.

Not to mention if McDaniels came in and assessed the QB situation and within a month didn't think Cutler had the decsion making chops then that would be a BIG red flag IMO.

The other thing about Matt is that until Kurt moves on he's always going to be looking over his shoulder.

If Kurt is gone, he knows that at least for one year and for reasonable play he won't lose his job and it's his to earn for the long haul.

I think that would calm him down greatly, the whole Warner platoon thing destroyed his confidence. It' would almost any QB's, and I really think it was intentional to teach him a hard lesson.

No use wasting the lesson now.

IMO Leinart is a better QB than Cutler, I would rather have Matt personally. As far as Cutler having to be traded now..nah, it won't happen...but the press will sure like to make more of it than it is

Leinart will be fine IMO, but even if he wasn't I dont want to trade him for Cutler. His diabetes scare me and I really expect it to limit his career.

Yeah that is definitely something to give serious consideration to. I am an insulin dependent diabetic and trust me when you are one your blood sugar can drop like a ship's anchor at a moments notice leaving one feeling like you have just been blindsided by Bertrand Berry!

And I sit at a desk all day. Imagine how difficult it is to juggle that when playing at least 60 minutes of NFL football. I admire Cutler for being able to so far overcome it and I hope it never does handicap his performance but it cannot help his hope for longevity in the league. Not saying it will shorten it but it won't help it.

Cutler doesn't strike me as a cranial QB where as Matt does. Million dollar arm, 10 cent emotional head
