Wrapping up a season full of career highs, Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood was named the team’s unsung hero by the fans. This is Sherwood’s first team season award, but if he continues his stellar performance from this year, it definitely won’t be his last.

Since joining the Canucks in July, Sherwood has very quickly become a fan-favourite for his hard hits and unyielding effort on the forecheck and backcheck. He first made a name for himself to Canucks fans as part of the Nashville Predators during the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He was consistently one of the better players in Nashville’s lineup throughout all six games of the series. As a member of the Canucks, his performances have only gotten better.
Sherwood’s effort on all sides of the ice have led to him being named the team’s unsung hero. In 77 games played, he has 19 goals and 21 assists — all career highs. He also registered his first career hat trick back in December against the Colorado Avalanche. Most impressively, however, he leads the entire NHL in hits made this season with 452 so far. Back on March 22, he broke the league record for hits made in a single season by making his 384th against the New York Rangers.
