Canyon track athlete Lathan Lewter has been voted the Happy State Bank High School Athlete of the Week for March 23-30.

Lewter won the 3,200-meter run at the Texas Relays in Austin with a time of nine minutes, 4.69 seconds. The Eagles' star beat out Austin Vandegrift's Kai McCullough by more than four seconds to claim first place in the event.

Lewter received 3,836 of the 13,388 votes cast, which was 28.65% of total votes.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible and can only be named Athlete of the Week one time per season, per sport, and athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. each Saturday and can be submitted through email at [email protected].

Please include statistics from the week's games and any pertinent information or honors. Voting runs through Thursday each week.
