Battlestar Galactica Prequel Gets the Go-Ahead
Source: Variety
March 18, 2008

SCI FI Channel has given the go-ahead to "Caprica," a prequel of "Battlestar Galactica" in the form of a two-hour backdoor pilot.

"Battlestar Galactica" is concluding its 3½-year run with 20 final episodes this year. Its "Caprica" prequel begins production in Vancouver in the spring. Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, the executive producers of "Galactica," will join with Universal Media Studios to work on "Caprica." Rene Aubuchon will co-write the "Caprica" pilot with Moore, and Jeff Reiner will direct it. Casting begins soon.

Cool. Sounds like some fun for after the show. I just hope the 4th season recovers and gets better than what the 2nd half of the 3rd season devolved into.

Awesome. Can't wait!

It's been so freaking long since I last saw this show I can barely remember what's going on.

I've watched it. I'm fairly new to the BG universe having watched the whole series earlier this year. After that I watched Caprica and the show definitely has potential, but also many flaws. I still don't think I particularly like any of the characters, and I especially dislike Zoe.

The show won't be back until next year.

I like Zoe. I also like Daniel Graystone.

Very hard for me to picture Lil' Adama as the future Commander Bill Adama, though.

Apparently, Caprica was just canceled due to low ratings. Now personally I didn't even know the show started airing again since it was reported a while ago that the show would not resume until next year. Perhaps the six-month hiatus and lack of promotion to let people know the show was back on had something to do with the low ratings? Then again, it wasn't that great of a show to begin with.

I loved the concept of Caprica and the last couple episodes were way rushed. Pissed me off because I thought if they had a couple more episodes it could have been much better. The thing I didn't like about the show is it wondered too much and went a little to far with the religious over tones. I realize that is a central theme but it felt heavy handed to often.

It had a really slow start but this last 6 episodes or so were really good. Too bad. I hope the next prequel is much better.

They had to rush because of getting cancelled. I think they did a hell of a job tying things up in thier little five minute finish, given we expected it to limp off into the sunset.

It is a show that could have been really, really good if they had given it two or three seasons of rope. They jerked the show around like crazy, taking more than two years to air 19 episodes or something ridiculous like that. Good job, Syfy. I hope the network treats Blood & Chrome better than it did Caprica.

I understood why but I was pissed that the studio didn't give them more time. If you look at the montage at the end, there were some very interesting moments thrown in there that would have been awesome episodes.

Hell yeah...that montage alone was enough to piss me off that there wasn't a season two. They said they were going to explore all those arcs, and even some other ones.

Freaking syfy cancelling them.

there was also supposed to be a scene where
the Final Five interacted with Zoeskinjob...sigh...what could have been.
