What's not to agree with - up to a point; namely that we don't know whether Boldin was promised something more in order to get him to sign his current deal and whether or not that "something" was an agreement to revisit that contract after the first season had been completed.
What doesn't make sense is that , why would the organization make extra guarantee's or promises? They already had all the cards on their side. They didn't need to offer a new deal, they just thought it was the proper thing to do and he accepted it. The bonus $$$$ and the new deal. It should have been enough in itself. If not get something else in writing. That's business.
In other words - In almost every case: "a deal's a deal." But if that deal included renegotiating the deal, then perhaps it's not totally a deal until it's renegotiated.
